One of Cornwall’s most important hubs for technology and business is about to benefit from a major internet boost, thanks to a new partnership between Cornwall Broadband service provider Wildanet and digital specialists, Headforwards. The bespoke gigabit-cable fiber network will ensure reliable, high-speed connectivity to FibreHub’s headquarters in Pool, Redruth, and the growing community of technology businesses based there.
Two Linked Reliable Trips
The new fiber network will consist of two independent gigabit circuits, designed to provide a stable, stable Internet connection. This upgrade is critical for Headforward and FibreHub’s tenants, who need reliable, high-speed connectivity to manage the large amount of data that comes with digital services around the world. With greater capacity as the area grows, the network will use the advanced Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) technology, ensuring that the volume of data can be handled efficiently.
Toby Parkins, Co-Founder of FibreHub and Headforwards, highlighted the importance of the upgrade, saying, “Reliable, fast internet is a business imperative, especially in our sector. The dual connectivity means we can offer FibreHub tenants and users a stable internet connection, which can also be quick.”
Supporting Cornwall’s Thriving Tech Sector
FibreHub, which opened in 2021, is a unique workspace for digital businesses, technology, and software. Currently home to 10 permanent residents, the facility is slated to expand with more space, including a hot desk and event space. The expanded network will not only benefit existing customers but will also support future growth at FibreHub, supporting its growing reputation as a hub for technology businesses in Cornwall.
Cornwall’s tech sector is one of the fastest growing outside of London, and further connectivity will further strengthen the region’s competitiveness. Toby added, “Cornwall has one of the fastest growing tech sectors outside of London, and good communication is essential to keep it going.”
Wildanet’s Mission for Better Communication
Wildanet, which was launched in 2017, has been instrumental in bringing high-speed internet to rural and hard-to-reach areas of the South West. The company’s expertise in providing connected business solutions has earned it national recognition, including the title of Best Rural Fiber Provider at the UK Fiber Awards 2024 and Broadband Provider of the Year at the Connected Britain Awards 2024.
Lawrence Palk, Director of B2B Sales at Wildanet, highlighted the importance of this new partnership: “As technology is growing rapidly, access to a reliable and future-proof network of Headforwards and FibreHub will be essential to ensure rock solidity to keep their global operations running.” better and faster.”
