The man came up with the idea after seeing what he jokingly described as a “7-star pothole”.
Potholes have emerged as a major problem across the country, and Bengaluru, known as India’s tech hub, is no exception. The city is famous for its many potholes. This has become a major headache for daily commuters. Despite many accidents and constant complaints from residents, the local authorities are still working on a solution to the problem. In the midst of this constant frustration, one man decided to make a joke about it, announcing his plans to create a program to read and review potholes.
Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan, co-founder and CTO at Fyle, an investment management company, took to the X platform and wrote, “We are planning to develop an app that can monitor and evaluate potholes in Bengaluru. Recently I saw a 7-star pothole and felt sad that it is not well known. Who is it?” ?”

In a subsequent post, he continued to share, “It’s done. I have no connection… Except for some pits.”
The post sparked a lively discussion online, with many supporting the idea along with their likes. The user explained more about the app and his ideas, “Give each pothole a unique ID. Make it identifiable by city and pincode. Ask people to write/print the ID on a small flag, place it between attractions, and then upload the image. Create geo coordinates openly.”
Give each hole a unique ID. Make it identifiable by city and pincode. Example D110001_P00001 for Delhi PinCode 110001 P for pothole 00001 serial number
Example M400001_G000001 for Mumbai 400001pincode Garbage serial number 000001
Ask people to write/print ID on…

A user mocked the potholes in the city and added, “Your 7-star pothole can’t hit the ORR road near my place. The venerable monument has been marked with a tree branch in the ‘luru’ style. I’m going to cheat, Ejipura Stonehenge is crying out for attention.”
Your 7 star pothole can’t beat the sinkhole on the ORR service road near my place. The venerable monument has been marked by a tree branch in the ‘luru’ style. I still want to know more, Egypt Stonehenge is still crying.— Swati Suramya (@SwatiSuramya) October 21, 2024
One person wrote: “This is a great idea.
A user joined in and suggested expanding the system to other cities: “I advise you to consider expanding this to other cities as well. There are 7-star hidden gems here.”

One man laughed, “Use astronomy technology to develop this program so that it can be used in the future to compare the craters on the Moon and Mars.”

As residents of Bengaluru continue to voice their frustration over potholes on social media, prominent business leaders such as Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Mohandas Pai have recently joined the conversation, voicing their concerns over the deteriorating road conditions.
Earlier in August, the Biocon chairman had expressed his dismay over Bengaluru’s deteriorating infrastructure and road woes.
